Feed2JS - Display RSS Feeds easily in Web Pages
Say you have two blogs and you want to display the headlines of posts from your first blog in the second. There are widgets available for this purpose. But if you want more control on the formatting and style of the displayed feed including its headline, date, the length of characters of the feed item, Feed2JS is the right tool for you.
Start by entering the URL of the RSS feed, set the number of items to be displayed, whether or not HTML should be allowed, and whether or not posting date should be displayed etc.
Note: The value you enter in Show/Hide item descriptions? How much? box will only work if HTML in item display is disabled.
As an example, with the settings as in the screenshot (click to enlarge) below,
this is the screenshot of the output:
Want to display just the titles without the dates like in the image below? No problem, just enter 0 in Show/Hide item descriptions? How much? box and Show item posting date? to no.
Note: Feed2JS provides a style tool that has several pre-built styles. The look above is that of the Zanestate Yahoo.
Steps to display the JavaScript output on your web page:
- Copy and paste the generated code where you want the output to show up
- Visit the style tool. Pick a style from the style selector dropdown, style your feed (keep in mind that you can still edit the styles for all the individual elements) and either embed the CSS in your web page or place it in your global stylesheet or link to a new one.
Digital Inspiration has posted alternatives including. a couple of non-JavaScript widgets for the same.
