Top 10 Reasons To Use Windows Live Writer For Writing Your Blog Posts

How To Get a Split View in Google Chrome

Split view (seeing two browser tabs side-by-side at the same time) is in-built into some browsers like Opera and Maxthon.

ChromePlugins.org has released a bookmarklet which will bring the dual split view to Google Chrome.

this will enable you to create 2 side by side “panels” in Chrome in the same tab so you can browse two sites at once side by side.

To get the split view:

  1. Visit http://www.chromeplugins.org/plugins/google-chrome-dual-view/ and add the bookmarklet to your browser bookmarks.
  2. Click on the bookmarklet

  3. The existing tab location will be filled by default. You can change it to the URL of the page to appear in the left side and press OK.

  4. Then enter the URL of the page to appear in the right tab. You have the option to prevent this page from creating additional dialogs.

Sync Folders, Share Files, Chat and Remote Control using GBridge

Gbridge is a free software that lets you sync folders, share files, chat and VNC securely and easily. It extends Google’s gtalk service to a VPN (Virtual Private Network) that connects your computers and your close friends’ computers directly and securely. Gbridge has many unique features.

What can you do with GBridge?

  1. File sharing – Securely share files among your own computers, so you can remotely access your files. Securely share files to your designated friend, so the selected friend can instantly view the auto-generated photo thumbnails and slideshows remotely.
  2. File syncing – Transfer big files and sync folders from/to anywhere. Note that this is not truly bi-directional. For more info, visit this forum topic.
  3. Backup – Setup an auto-recurring local or remote backup of your important directory

How To Round Corners Of An Image Using Picnik

Reader Level: Basic

One of the easiest ways of rounding corners of an image is to use the online image editing service called Picnik.

  1. a) If you want to round the corners of an image on a web page, you should get the Picnik add-on for Firefox from here. Once you have the extension installed, you can simply right click on the image and select ‘Edit Image in Picnik…’ option from the context menu. That will automatically open Picnik website in a new tab with your image ready to be edited.
    b) If you would like to apply rounded corners to an existing image on your computer, visit http://www.picnik.com/ and click ‘Get from Computer’. Browse to and bring your image into Picnik.

  2. Now go to ‘Create’ tab, click on ‘Frames’ and select ‘Rounded Edges’

  3. You can see that the edges of your image immediately get rounded with a default corner radius of 27 (changeable). Also you can set the background color to be the same as the color of webpage on which you intend to place the image.

  4. Go to ‘Save & Share’ tab and save the image to your computer or have it directly sent to image hosting sites like Flickr and Picasa.
